Precautions and Warnings With Zolmitriptan (Cont.)

Who Should Not Take Zolmitriptan?

• Are allergic to Zomig, zolmitriptan, or any inactive component used to make zolmitriptan. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients used to make zolmitriptan.
   
• Have a history of angina, including stable angina, unstable angina, or variant angina (Prinzmetal's angina).
   
• Have a history of heart disease or a heart attack.
   
• Have untreated high blood pressure (hypertension).
   
• Have hemiplegic or basilar migraines (rare types of migraines involving loss of feeling on one half of the body or pain at the back of the head).
   
• Have taken ergot medications within the past 24 hours. Some examples of ergot medications include:

• Bromocriptine (Parlodel^®)
• Dihydroergotamine (Migranal^®)
• Ergotamine (Bellamine S^®, Cafergot^®, Ergomar^®)
• Pergolide (Permax^®).

• Have taken another triptan medication similar to zolmitriptan within that past 24 hours. Other triptans can include:

• Almotriptan (Axert^®)
• Eletriptan (Relpax^®)
• Frovatriptan (Frova^®)
• Naratriptan (Amerge^®)
• Rizatriptan (Maxalt^®)
• Sumatriptan (Imitrex^®).

• Have taken a type A monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAO-A inhibitor) within the past two weeks. MAO-A inhibitors can include:

• Isocarboxazid (Marplan^®)
• Phenelzine (Nardil^®)
• Selegiline (Eldepryl^®, Emsam^®, Zelapar^®) at high doses
• Tranylcypromine (Parnate^®).
