Drug Interactions With Zolmitriptan

Among the drugs that can potentially interact with zolmitriptan are other triptans, type A monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO-A inhibitors), and cimetidine. Drug interactions with zolmitriptan can increase your risk of dangerous side effects or cause a group of symptoms called serotonin syndrome (which can include confusion, muscle spasms, and sweating), among other things. Make sure to talk with your pharmacist or healthcare provider about any zolmitriptan drug interactions that may apply to you.

 

An Overview of Drug Interactions With Zolmitriptan

Zolmitriptan (Zomig®) can potentially interact with a number of other medicines. Some of the medicines that may lead to zolmitriptan interactions include:
 

 

 

  • Ergot medications, such as:

 

    • Bromocriptine (Parlodel®)
    • Dihydroergotamine (Migranal®)
    • Ergotamine (Bellamine S®, Cafergot®, Ergomar®)
    • Pergolide (Permax®)

 

  • Type A monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO-A inhibitors), including:
