Drug Interactions With Vigabatrin
Combining vigabatrin with phenytoin or clonazepam could lead to drug interactions. Some of these reactions may result in potentially serious side effects or other problems. Do not start treatment with vigabatrin without first talking to your healthcare provider about all medications you are taking -- even nonprescription ones. He or she can help determine any potential interactions that may apply to you.

Vigabatrin (Sabril®) can potentially react with a few other medications. Some of the products that may lead to drug interactions with vigabatrin include but are not limited to:
- Clonazepam (Klonopin®)
- Phenytoin (Dilantin®, Phenytek®).
The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative reactions that can occur when vigabatrin is combined with any of the drugs listed above.
Clonazepam
Vigabatrin can increase the level of clonazepam in your blood, perhaps increasing the risk for clonazepam side effects. Check with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.
Phenytoin
Some studies suggest that vigabatrin may decrease the level of phenytoin in the blood. This should be taken into account when a person taking phenytoin starts or stops taking vigabatrin, or even during a vigabatrin dosage change.
It is possible that not all vigabatrin drug interactions were discussed in this article. Therefore, you should talk with your pharmacist or healthcare provider about the specific interactions that may apply to you.
