Medications Metabolized by COMT
Tolcapone inhibits COMT (catechol-O-methyltransferase), an enzyme that breaks down certain drugs. Tolcapone could significantly increase the level of such drugs in the body, possibly increasing the risk of dangerous side effects. Check with your healthcare provider before combining tolcapone with these medications.
 
Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs)
Non-selective MAOIs (isocarboxazid, phenelzine, and tranylcypromine) should not be combined with tolcapone. Selective MAOI-B inhibitors (selegiline and rasagiline) can be used with tolcapone.
 
Warfarin (Coumadin, Jantoven)
