Drug Interactions With Orally Disintegrating Carbidopa-Levodopa

Some drug interactions with orally disintegrating carbidopa-levodopa may alter the amounts of the medications in your blood. This may increase your risk of side effects or decrease the effectiveness of the medications. Therefore, it is important that your healthcare provider is aware of any other medications you are taking. Some of the medications that can cause potentially negative drug interactions with orally disintegrating carbidopa-levodopa include antipsychotics, iron, and blood pressure medicines.

 

Drug Interactions With Orally Disintegrating Carbidopa-Levodopa: An Overview

Orally disintegrating carbidopa-levodopa (Parcopa®) can potentially interact with many other medications. Some of the medicines that may lead to orally disintegrating carbidopa-levodopa drug interactions include:
 
  • Antipsychotic medications (which are sometimes used for non-psychiatric uses), such as:

 

 

  • Blood pressure medications
  • Iron products, including many multivitamins
  • Isoniazid
  • Metoclopramide (Reglan®)
  • Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), including:
