Perampanel Medication Information

If you have partial-onset seizures, your healthcare provider may recommend treatment with perampanel (FycompaTM). Although this anti-seizure drug can be effective for many people, it's important to review the safety information before starting treatment to help minimize potentially dangerous complications. You may not be able to take perampanel if you are taking certain products, have severe liver disease, or are pregnant or nursing.

Perampanel comes in the form of tablets that are taken by mouth once daily, usually at bedtime. Some people who take this medicine will develop side effects, such as dizziness, sleepiness, and irritability.

Perampanel is used in combination with other anti-seizure medications in adults and adolescents age 12 and older. Although this drug is not a cure for this form of epilepsy, it can help prevent the frequency of seizures.
