Fingolimod Drug Information
If you have multiple sclerosis, a healthcare provider may prescribe fingolimod (GilenyaTM). This medication comes in capsule form and is taken once daily. This is different than most other multiple sclerosis medicines, which are given by injection. Headaches, diarrhea, and back pain are some of the possible side effects of fingolimod.
It's important to review this drug's safety information with your healthcare provider before starting treatment with fingolimod. This product may not be suitable for everyone, so make sure your healthcare provider is aware if you have any other medical conditions (such as problems with your heart, liver, or eyes) or if you are taking any other types of medicine (including nonprescription drugs, vitamins, and herbal supplements).
(For more information on this drug, click Fingolimod. This article provides a more in-depth discussion, explaining how this medication works, what to expect while taking it, and how to ensure the effectiveness of each dose.)
