Subacute Sclerosing Panencephalitis

What Is the Prognosis?

If not treated with immunomodulators (interferon) and antivirals (ribavirin and inosine pranobex), subacute sclerosing panencephalitis is almost always fatal. Death usually occurs between one and three years after onset, although some spontaneous remissions have been reported (up to 5 percent).
