Zolmitriptan (Zomig)
If you are an adult who experiences migraine headaches, you may benefit from a prescription drug called zolmitriptan (Zomig®). Although this medication will not help prevent migraines, it can be useful in treating a migraine that is already occurring. Zolmitriptan comes in many forms, including:
- Tablets
- Nasal spray
- Orally disintegrating tablets (these dissolve in the mouth).
This medication is generally well tolerated. However, side effects are possible and may include:
- Unusual taste (for the nasal spray)
- Dizziness
- Abnormal sensations, such as tingling, burning, or pricking (paresthesia)
