Drug Interactions With Levetiracetam XR
Levetiracetam XR (Keppra XR™) is a prescription medication used to treat a certain type of epilepsy known as partial seizures. While most seizure medications have numerous drug interactions, levetiracetam XR is unlikely to interact with other medications. This is a potential advantage of levetiracetam XR over other seizure medications. In studies, when regular, immediate-release Keppra was taken with certain other medications, no significant interactions occurred. This is a good indication that levetiracetam XR is also unlikely to interact with medications (since there is no reason to believe that Keppra and levetiracetam XR will behave differently, in terms of drug interactions).
Levetiracetam XR has not been studied in combination with every medication. Therefore, it is possible that there are levetiracetam XR drug interactions that are not known at this time. Therefore, you should talk with your pharmacist or healthcare provider about any specific levetiracetam XR interactions that may apply to you.
