Lioresal Uses in Children

Lioresal tablets have not been approved for use in children younger than 12 years of age, although this medication is frequently used in younger children. Lioresal intrathecal injection is approved for children as young as four years old.

Off-Label Uses for Lioresal

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend Lioresal for treating something other than the conditions discussed in this article. This is called an "off-label" use. Some off-label Lioresal uses may include treating the following conditions:
  • Cerebral palsy (only the intrathecal injection, not the tablet form, is approved for this use)
  • Chronic hiccups
  • Cluster headaches
  • Alcoholism or other addictions
  • Bladder spasms
  • Trigeminal neuralgia
  • Huntington's chorea.
