Generic Kemadrin

Kemadrin (procyclidine hydrochloride) is not currently available in a generic form. Although the patents for this medication have long expired, no manufacturers have chosen to make a generic Kemadrin. This may be because there is not a high demand for Kemadrin, and it would not be financially beneficial to make a generic version of this medication.

 

Generic Kemadrin: An Overview

Kemadrin® (procyclidine hydrochloride) is a prescription medication used to treat Parkinson's disease and certain side effects of antipsychotic medications (known as extrapyramidal symptoms, or EPS). It is also useful for treating excessive drooling caused by Parkinson's disease or antipsychotic medications.
 
Kemadrin is made by Monarch Pharmaceuticals, a division of King Pharmaceuticals. Even though the patents for Kemadrin have long expired, there are no generic versions of Kemadrin available.
 

When Will Generic Kemadrin Be Available?

This is a difficult question to answer, as it is likely that a generic version of Kemadrin may never become available. Because all of the patents of Kemadrin have long expired, there is nothing preventing any manufacturer from making generic Kemadrin. However, no manufacturers have chosen to do so, probably because it would not be financially beneficial (as there is a very small demand for this medication).
