Glatiramer acetate (Copaxone®) does not have any known drug interactions at this time. However, you should always tell your healthcare provider about all medications (including prescription drugs, non-prescription drugs, and vitamins or supplements) you take. Even though there are no known drug interactions with glatiramer, it is important to understand that the drug has not been tested with most other medications.
Glatiramer does not seem to interact with corticosteroids (such as prednisone), which are sometimes used in the treatment of multiple sclerosis. It is not known if glatiramer interacts with interferon beta medications (Avonex®, Rebif®, Betaseron®), other commonly used multiple sclerosis medications.
New drug interactions with glatiramer may be discovered at any time. Therefore, any time you start or stop a medication, you should talk with your pharmacist or healthcare provider about the possible drug interactions that may apply to you.
