Drug Interactions With Felbamate

When felbamate is taken with certain other medications, such as barbiturates or birth control pills, potentially negative reactions can occur. These drug interactions with felbamate can lead to problems, such as increased or decreased drug levels in the blood. To prevent these and other complications, your healthcare provider may adjust your dosages or recommend another medication.

An Overview of Felbamate Interactions

Felbamate (Felbatol®) may interact with a number of other medications. Some of the drugs that may lead to interactions with felbamate include but are not limited to:
 
  • Barbiturates, such as:
     
    • Amobarbital (Amytal®)
    • Butalbital (Fioricet®, Fiorinal®)
    • Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
    • Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
    • Secobarbital (Seconal®)
