What Is Eletriptan Used For? (Cont.)

Eletriptan Use in Children and Teens

Eletriptan is not approved for children and teens less than 18 years of age. One study of eletriptan involving adolescents 11 to 17 years of age showed that the medication was not effective for this age group. Talk to your healthcare provider about the benefits and risks of using eletriptan to treat migraines in children and teens.

Off-Label Eletriptan Uses

On occasion, your healthcare provider may recommend eletriptan for something other than migraine headaches. This is known as an "off-label" use. One off-label eletriptan use involves the treatment of cluster headaches.
