Eletriptan Interactions Explained

 
Certain Antibiotics or Antifungals
Do not take eletriptan within 72 hours (3 days) of taking certain antibiotics or antifungals. These medications can greatly increase the level of eletriptan in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects.
 
Certain Antidepressants
Taking eletriptan with certain depression medications, including selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) or serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), can cause a group of symptoms called serotonin syndrome. These symptoms include:
 
  • Hallucinations
  • Confusion
  • A fast heartbeat
  • Sweating
  • Feeling faint
  • Fever
  • Muscle spasms
  • Difficulty walking
  • Diarrhea.
 
Talk to your healthcare provider before taking eletriptan with such depression medications. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have any of these symptoms, as serotonin syndrome can be very dangerous.
 
Conivaptan (Vaprisol)
You should not take eletriptan within 72 hours (3 days) of taking conivaptan. This medication can greatly increase the level of eletriptan in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects.
 
Delavirdine (Rescriptor)
Do not take eletriptan within 72 hours (3 days) of taking delavirdine. This medication can greatly increase the level of eletriptan in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects.
 
Diclofenac (Voltaren, Cataflam)
You should not take eletriptan within 72 hours (3 days) of taking diclofenac. This medication can greatly increase the level of eletriptan in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects.
