Who Should Not Take Divalproex ER?

You should not take divalproex ER if you:
 
  • Are allergic to divalproex sodium, Depakote ER, or any inactive components used to make the medication. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive ingredients.
     
  • Have liver disease.
     
  • Have a urea cycle disorder (see above).
