Drug Interactions With Carbidopa-Levodopa
Several medicines may cause negative drug interactions with carbidopa-levodopa, including antipsychotic medications, blood pressure medications, and tricyclic antidepressants. Some of these interactions can increase or decrease drug levels in your blood, which could increase your risk for side effects or decrease the medications' effectiveness. If drug interactions with carbidopa-levodopa are a concern, talk to your healthcare provider before starting any other medications.

- Tranylcypromine (Parnate®)
- Phenytoin (Dilantin®, Phenytek®)
- Tricyclic antidepressants, such as:
- Amitriptyline (Elavil®)
- Amoxapine (Asendin®)
- Clomipramine (Anafranil®)
- Desipramine (Norpramin®)
- Doxepin (Sinequan®)
- Imipramine (Tofranil®, Tofranil PM®)
- Maprotiline (Ludiomil®)
- Nortriptyline (Pamelor®)
- Protriptyline (Vivactil®)
- Trimipramine (Surmontil®).
