Drug Interactions With Carbidopa-Levodopa-Entacapone
Tricyclic antidepressants, blood pressure medications, and certain antibiotics could potentially cause drug interactions with carbidopa-levodopa-entacapone. These interactions can increase your risk of serious side effects or reduce the effectiveness of carbidopa-levodopa-entacapone. Make sure to tell your healthcare provider about all other medications you are taking to help prevent carbidopa-levodopa-entacapone drug interactions.

Carbidopa-levodopa-entacapone (Stalevo®) can potentially interact with several different medications. Some of the medicines that may lead to drug interactions with carbidopa-levodopa-entacapone include:
- Antipsychotic medications
- Blood pressure medications
- Certain antibiotics, such as:
- Ampicillin
- Chloramphenicol
- Erythromycin (Ery-Tab®)
- Rifampicin (Rifadin®)
- Cholestyramine (Prevalite®, Questran®, Questran® Light)
- Iron
- Isoniazid
- Medications metabolized by catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT), such as:
- Apomorphine (Apokyn®)
- Dobutamine
- Dopamine
- Epinephrine (Adrenalin®, EpiPen®, Primatene® Mist)
- Isoproterenol (Isuprel®)
- Methyldopa
- Norepinephrine (Levophed®)
- Metoclopramide (Reglan®)
- Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), such as:
- Isocarboxazid (Marplan®)
- Phenelzine (Nardil®)
- Rasagiline (Azilect®)
- Selegiline (Eldepryl®, Emsam®, Zelapar®)
- Tranylcypromine (Parnate®)
- Phenytoin (Dilantin®, Phenytek®)
- Probenecid
- Tricyclic antidepressants, such as:
- Amitriptyline (Elavil®)
- Amoxapine (Asendin®)
- Clomipramine (Anafranil®)
- Desipramine (Norpramin®)
- Doxepin (Sinequan®, Silenor®)
- Imipramine (Tofranil®, Tofranil PM®)
- Maprotiline (Ludiomil®)
- Nortriptyline (Pamelor®)
- Protriptyline (Vivactil®)
- Trimipramine (Surmontil®).
